Laura Chambers is a dynamic and expressive Canadian flutist whose performances have captivated audiences across North America. Equally at home as a soloist, chamber musician, and orchestral player, she has performed with many of Canada’s leading ensembles, including the Toronto Symphony Orchestra, the National Ballet Orchestra of Canada, the Kingston Symphony, the Hamilton Philharmonic Orchestra, Soundstreams, and London Symphonia, where she currently serves as Principal Flute.

Known for her versatility, Laura also brings her artistry to the world of musical theatre. She performs as a multi-instrumentalist with Mirvish Productions, most recently appearing as part of the flute team for Disney’s The Lion King. A passionate advocate for new and collaborative music, she is a founding member of Charm of Finches, Canada’s first professional flute quintet, and regularly collaborates with artists from a wide range of genres, including Juno-nominated singer-songwriter Dayna Manning. Her work extends into film and multimedia, with award-winning soundtrack credits and international appearances—including a memorable performance as principal flute in Stravinsky’s The Rite of Spring for an audience of over 10,000 at Burning Man 2017.

Laura is equally committed to music education. She maintains a thriving private studio and teaches at the Royal Conservatory of Music’s Oscar Peterson School, Interprovincial Music Camp, and Lakefield Music Camp. She is also a sought-after clinician, working with students at schools, colleges, and festivals across Canada.

Laura holds degrees from the University of Toronto and the University of Southern California and is currently completing her doctoral research at York University, where she explores how classical music is evolving—and surviving—within today’s fast-shifting cultural landscape. She has also taught courses at both York and the University of Toronto, sharing her expertise with the next generation of musicians.

Outside of rehearsals, teaching, and research, Laura is the proud mother of a spirited and joyful toddler, and the devoted human to two exceptionally fluffy cats—each with very vocal opinions about her flute practice.
