2024-25 EDUCATION PROGRAMS FOR STUDENTS

We believe that music is for everyone. London Symphonia’s Education Programs, delivered by our highly skilled and versatile musicians, offer a range of opportunities for children from grades 3 to 12 to experience the magic and transformational power of orchestral music that your students won’t forget!

Our programs include:

  • Open Rehearsals at Metropolitan United
  • In-School performances by one of our touring ensembles
  • Free tickets to London Symphonia's 2024-25 Season concerts

All programs have limited capacity. Sign up early and don’t be disappointed.

1. Open Rehearsals

     Where: Metropolitan United
     Grades: 5 to 12
     Time: 10am to 11am
     Dates: October 4  |  November 29  |  January 17 |  April 4
     Cost: Free

     REGISTRATION DEADLINES:

  • September 13 for October 4 rehearsal
  • November 8 for November 29 rehearsal
  • December 20 for January 17 rehearsal
  • March 7 for April 4 rehearsal  

Attending an Open Rehearsal enables students to experience London Symphonia onstage as the musicians prepare for a concert. Following the 40-minute rehearsal, there will be a talk and Q&A with Scott Good, our Composer-In-Residence.

2. Concerts in Elementary Schools

BRASS & WINDS QUINTETS

     Where: At your school
     Grades: 3 to 8
     Duration: 60 minutes including Q&A
     Cost: $600 fee per school (includes HST)

Students love it!  We received rave reviews in February 2024 when over 4,000 students attended our Brass and Wind Quintet performances that included a diverse range of composers and genres, demonstrations of instruments, and even a singalong of “Let It Go” from Frozen. 

Before the concert, teachers will receive a music enrichment package about the composers and music to be performed.

BRASS Blow Your Mind

     Dates: October 21, 22, 23
     REGISTRATION DEADLINE: September 13

Bright, energetic, and full of opportunities for audience participation, this program features five brass players performing music both new and familiar. Students will learn about melody, form, and how brass instruments work.

WINDS Celebrate Black History Month

     Dates: February 10, 11, 12
     REGISTRATION DEADLINE: December 20

Five woodwind players from our orchestra illuminate the rich history of black composers, arrangers, and performers. Students will learn about Ragtime, Swing, and hear contemporary favorites in a fresh new way.

3. Concert - Kindness

     Where: Metropolitan United
     Grades: 7 to 9
     Date: Friday, November 1, 2024
     Time: 10am - 11am
     Cost: Free. Kindness is supported by the Music Performance Trust Fund
     REGISTRATION DEADLINE: September 27, 2024 

Kindness is an immersive educational program celebrating the intrinsic humanity that connects us all through a seamless and captivating presentation of music and words. It is a unique, emotionally charged concert experience that includes beautiful musical pieces, lighthearted moments and some gripping true stories.

Led by actors Glynis Ranney and Mike Nadajewski, and with 10 Symphonia musicians, this program explores the rich tradition of musical theatre with composers such as Stephen Sondheim and Leonard Cohen, passages from luminaries such as Jane Goodall and The Dalai Lama, and true stories reaching from the European skies of WWII down to the mines of North America. 

Teachers will receive a curriculum-guided information package about the music, with suggested activities, to create a holistic educational experience.
