Calvin Tsang

Violinist Calvin Tsang was born overseas and moved to the US at the age of 7.  Starting the violin a year later, he garnered many awards/honors in his formative years, including concertmaster of Texas All-State Symphony Orchestra as a high school freshman and Austin Symphony concerto winner and soloist (at the age of 14).  A two-time full-scholarship recipient to both the Civic Orchestra of Chicago and Tanglewood Music Festival fellowships, he completed both Bachelor's and Master's degrees in violin performance at Northwestern University (Chicago) and went on to perform with symphonies including the Virginia Symphony, Charlotte Symphony, and San Diego Symphony.  He also performed in principal roles with several professional ensembles, in addition to being a soloist featured on Charlotte's (North Carolina) classical radio station.  Shortly after his move to Canada, he was appointed to the position of associate concertmaster with Orchestra London.  Since then, he has continued in this role through the group's transition to London Symphonia, acting as concertmaster on multiple occasions. Currently based in Toronto, he maintains a teaching studio and works with various orchestras in the region and beyond.
