London Symphonia is proud to offer a variety of School Music Education Programs in the 2026-27 school year specifically designed for students in Kindergarten through Grade 12. Thanks to the generosity of our sponsors, all programs are available free of charge.

Whether you are an Elementary School or High School teacher, London Symphonia is your partner in music education. Each of our programs is designed to give your students the opportunity to encounter the wonder of orchestral music. Delivered by our highly skilled and versatile musicians, it is a transformative experience they will never forget.

Open Rehearsals (Grades 7 to 12)

Experience the Music Behind the Scenes! 

Attending an Open Rehearsal offers students a unique opportunity to see London Symphonia onstage as the musicians prepare for an upcoming concert.

This free and popular program is best suited for up and coming musicians. Applications are open to music classes Grades 7 to 12. For younger students, we recommend introducing them to orchestral music through our in-school concert program, BRASS Blow Your Mind.

Space is limited. Only one (1) rehearsal may be booked per school in the 2026-27 academic year.

Prior to the rehearsal, teachers will receive a music-enrichment package containing background information on the composers and the works being rehearsed, along with a PDF of the instrumental parts so students can follow along during the rehearsal and classroom study.

After the 70-minute rehearsal, there will be a 10-minute talk and Q&A session with Scott Good, London Symphonia’s Head of School Education Programs. Whenever possible, a guest conductor or featured artist will also participate.

In-School Performances

BRASS Blow Your Mind (Kindergarten to Grade 8)

BRASS Blow Your Mind is a high-energy interactive concert featuring the excitement and power of live brass music performed by London Symphonia’s Brass Quintet.

Opening with an Olympic-style fanfare, the program takes students on a fast-paced journey through classical, jazz, and pop music with virtuosic performances, improvisation, audience participation, and engaging demonstrations.

The first 30 minutes are designed for full-school audiences (Kindergarten to Grade 8) and include projections, an introduction to brass instruments, an interactive performance of “Funga Alafia”, and a school-wide finale of “We Will Rock You”.

In the second half, Grades 6 to 8 remain for an exploration of melody, scales, chords, and musical structure through visuals and live musical examples. The concert concludes with “Defying Gravity” and a singalong of “Shake It Off”.

Schools may also choose to involve a small group of senior student percussionists, who rehearse briefly with the ensemble before performing live on stage.

Concerts in Secondary Schools

STRINGS Around The World (Grades 7 and 8)

Following the success of last season’s STRINGS Around the World pilot, we are bringing this interactive concert to Oakridge, Saunders, and Medway Secondary Schools in March 2027. Grade 7 and 8 students from feeder schools will be invited by their respective designated high school. High school music students at those schools will have the opportunity to join in selected works.

Presented by London Symphonia’s String Quintet and hosted by Scott Good, Head of School Education Programs for London Symphonia, this dynamic concert celebrates musical traditions from around the world and reflects the cultural diversity of our London community.

KINDNESS CONCERTS (Grades, 7, 8 and 9)

This multidisciplinary, interactive 60-minute performance, designed for students in Grades 7, 8 and 9, will be performed at four high schools in October in London and the surrounding area.

Music, song, and storytelling explore compassion as a transformative force in society. Featuring music by Leonard Cohen, Edith Piaf, Jacques Brel, and Shirley Elkhart, alongside true stories of extraordinary generosity and reflections from influential thinkers, the program delivers a powerful and accessible artistic experience.

Developed by acclaimed singers and storytellers Glynis Ranney and Mike Nadajewski, with arrangements and compositions by Ben Bolt-Martin (conductor, London Symphonia principal cello) and performed by 10 London Symphonia musicians, this concert is both emotionally engaging and educational.

Teachers will receive learning materials in advance, including curriculum-linked arts education resources, background on musical form and variation, and a song to learn for audience participation. Students will be invited to contribute their own stories of kindness, thus ensuring meaningful personal engagement.

High Schools will invite feeder Elementary Schools and their own Grade 9 students to attend.
